Are our chickens hormone free?

Yes. In alignment with Federal & Industry regulations, hormones, steroids, growth enhancers have NOT been used in the growing & breeding of chickens for 40 years.

Sourcing our chicken from one of Australia’s most revolutionary processing plants in Thomastown Victoria, is La Ionica, a household name when it comes to chicken.

Using the premium European method of “air chilling”, a process which does not involve the use of traditional spin–chillers filled with ice water and chlorine, all La Ionica chickens travel along a refrigeration line where they are chilled with cool, natural air until their deep muscle temperature is 0 degrees Celsius.

Where the spin-chiller process alters appearance, texture and taste, our air-chilling process is what ensures all La Ionica chickens maintain their healthy pink appearance, great natural texture and flavour, giving you “the real taste of chicken”.
